Storm over BLOG by Hugh Hewitt

Yesterday I posted a 3 out of 5 stars Amazon review of Hugh Hewitt's BLOG and maybe I was not generous enough. I recommended the book, but panned it for a trumped up analogy to the Protestant Reformation and for short cuts on content. Since it was my $13.99, I thought I could be honest about wanting the book to be more complete. Obviously, I risk some snubbing if the Hewitt allied bloggers wish to punish my dissent (I rather enjoy the Instasnubbed honesty from evangelicaloutpost). While HughHewitt.com is an excellent blog, its promotion of BLOG seems to champion immodesty. Hugh did get his book up to the 50s rank at Amazon earlier (I think that was after the O'Reily interview), it seems settled in now at the 500s.

By the way, Powerline's John Hinderacker (another excellent blog) provides an Amazon review of BLOG that I bet he would like back. It just seems so cross-purposed to begin a recommendation with the words "some moron" -- no matter how justified his private anger over identity misappropriation.

Anyway, I have decided that for the coming days, I will post items that would have been excellent additions to BLOG; a literal set of compliments to Hugh's book.

My first contribution is this: Hugh's book generally directs you to evangelicaloutpost.com for start-up hints. Let me clarify, go here. For a broader take from Joe Carter's site, use his search option in the left column and type in "how to start a blog" (and press enter).

More compliments later.
